Arithmetic-Mean Working Frequency Measurement – Pulse-Wave Ultrasound
Testing service to determine the arithmetic-mean working frequency (fawf) of a pulse-wave ultrasonic transducer
Testing service to determine the arithmetic-mean working frequency (fawf) of a pulse-wave ultrasonic transducer,
based on the −3 dB bandwidth of its acoustic pressure spectrum, following IEC 61828 and IEC 62127-1.
- Mounting of transducer and hydrophone in degassed, deionized water
- Acquisition of time-domain acoustic pressure signal
- Frequency-domain analysis using FFT with optional windowing
- Identification of peak frequency and −3 dB bandwidth
- Calculation of arithmetic-mean working frequency (fawf)
- Constraint check: f₂ ≤ 3 × f₁ to ensure spectral relevance
- Summary report with frequency data, analysis steps, and plots
Example protocol: Arithmetic-mean working frequency of a pulse-wave-measurement
