Together with the University Clinic for General, Visceral, Vascular and Transplant Surgery Magdeburg, we have been working on the pioneering joint project HEALS (Healing Evaluation and Assessment for Surgical wounds) since the beginning of the year. The aim of the project is to develop an innovative sonography-based diagnostic device for the early detection and monitoring of wound healing processes – particularly after surgical procedures on the colon.<\/p>\n
The novel ultrasound procedure is intended to enable a precise, non-invasive assessment of wound healing using time-harmonic elastography and thus detect complications such as anastomotic insufficiencies at an early stage. The project will run for 30 months, from January 2025 to June 2027.<\/p>\n
As the leading technological partner, GAMPT is developing the necessary measurement electronics, sensors and software, while the university hospital is responsible for the clinical investigations – initially on models and later as part of a patient study.<\/p>\n
The project represents an important step towards personalized medicine and improved patient safety and is co-financed by the European Union.<\/p>\n
